If you've been to Quincy Center lately, you will have noticed that Hancock Adams Green is starting to look like a welcoming urban town center. Construction has been moving forward steadily, and with spring officially here, it will continue at a rapid pace.

NASHUA — City officials are kicking off a master planning project this week that will develop a new vision for the downtown waterfront area.
“I think Nashua’s riverfront is an amazing amenity that we haven’t had the ability to capitalize on yet, even though there are some really great ideas,” said Sarah Marchant, community development director.

PRESS: Parking Garages Becoming Newest City Parks
Boston has almost 7.5 million square feet of designated, off-street parking space. Wide swaths of concrete, asphalt and steel, often spattered with oil from vehicles and salt from roadways.
The parking facilities in the city — and across the country — have long been land hogs. But that is changing, reports the U.S. Green Building Council.

By engaging in lively discussion, the panel will answer questions such as how programming and design work together in an era of ever more crowded cities; how artwork can inform and influence park design; and how pop-up parks and temporary structures present opportunities and challenges to the landscape, to name a few. (This presentation is eligible for 1.5 LA CES credits through the BSLA.)

Rising Sea Levels: Design Strategies for Waterfront Projects

Join Halvorson Design's Rob Adams and colleagues from Fort Point Associates and The Architectural Team as they discuss new ways of thinking in resiliency and urban design for successful waterfront redevelopment projects through the case study of Clippership Wharf, a mixed use development pursuing an aggressive 100-year resiliency strategy. The panel will examine strategies such as living shorelines and elevated public use areas to safeguard projects, increase resiliency, provide an attractive appearance and allow pedestrian access to waterfront development.

Downtown Quincy Project Returns Monument To Its Rightful Place
This week, the Hancock Adams Green project in Quincy reached a milestone--Quincy's iconic, 20,000-pound gazing ball was returning to its rightful location in front of City Hall.
