Clippership Wharf is a mixed-use development in East Boston, MA, developed by Lendlease in collaboration with The Architectural Team and our landscape architects at Halvorson. As the development continues to evolve, tenants are enjoying the new retail spaces and public areas, which thoughtfully integrate the site into existing space and add to the vibrance of East Boston.
Landscape architecture highlights include an introduced ‘living shoreline’ featuring saltwater marshes, rocky beaches, and habitats for plants and wildlife. The shoreline integrates with the waterfront open space, offering a variety of access points, including a new kayak dock and launch, a fishing pier, and a larger boat dock and ramp for motorized transportation.
“Clippership Wharf has been one of those projects that continues to evolve, and our own personal experiences are evolving with it,” said principal landscape architect Rob Adams. “What started as a simple idea to ‘do something different along our harborwalk; something wild, something that changes’ has become what it aspired to be. On a grander scale, Clippership Wharf is just one piece of land along an entire coastline, but it has been inspiring to see how a single project has brought about so much change.”
