Statler Park

Civic Open Space | Boston, Massachusetts

Featuring a landmark art deco fountain by sculptor Ulysses Anthony Ricci, the historic Statler Park is the central open space of Boston’s Park Square.

Halvorson led a team of engineers and historic conservators in the comprehensive restoration of the 1926 park and fountain, adding contemporary details to support the active use of the site.

The park is located at a geographically significant location in Boston. During the 17th Century, this site was the transition between what was once the water sheet of Back Bay to the peninsula of land known as Shawmut. Today it lies on the Columbus Avenue Corridor at the transition between Back Bay, the South End and the Public Garden.
