Ricardo Austrich RLA

Ricardo Austrich is a Senior Associate and project manager at Halvorson Design. His responsibilities include site planning and design, planting design and project management. A trained horticulturalist, he is a specialist in planting design and often provides tree and plant evaluations and maintenance recommendations for selected projects. He has over 20 years of professional experience with public and private sector projects, including historic cemeteries, retail centers, corporate complexes, urban waterfront parks and open spaces, streetscapes, bikeways and institutional landscapes.

Specializing in a plant-centered approach to design work, Mr. Austrich has an expertise in providing clients with sustainable planting solutions for their landscape needs, balancing durability with aesthetic performance. While at Halvorson Design Partnership, he has also been closely involved with the firm's award-winning historic cemetery practice.

In 2003, Mr. Austrich was a Fulbright Fellow in landscape architecture in Santiago, Chile. In 2012, he was a visiting senior lecturer in landscape architecture at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Mr. Austrich is on the adjunct faculty at the Boston Architectural College, where he has taught since 2010.
