Ricardo Austrich, ASLA

associate Principal

Ricardo Austrich is an Associate Principal and project manager at Halvorson Design Partnership and President-elect of the Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA). A trained horticulturalist, he has more than 25 years of professional landscape design experience, with a focus on site planning and design for parks, residences, mixed-use developments, streetscapes and bikeways, cemeteries, institutional and historic landscapes.

Specializing in a plant-centered approach to design, Ricardo has an expertise in providing clients with sustainable planting solutions for their landscape needs, balancing durability with aesthetic performance. While at Halvorson Design, he has also been closely involved with the firm's award-winning historic cemetery practice, including Mount Auburn Cemetery and Lakewood Cemetery.

Ricardo was a 2003 Fulbright Scholar in landscape architecture and urban design in Santiago, Chile, and in 2012, he was a visiting senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He is also on the adjunct faculty at the Boston Architectural College, where he has taught since 2010.
