Halvorson Design joined an interdisciplinary team led by Goody Clancy Associates to shape a compelling vision for the future of this historic riverfront reservation. The award-winning Master Plan, published in 2000, included a rigorous inventory and analysis of the entire public reservation, recommendations for enhancements, management and programming, and a partnership strategy to expand implementation resources.
In 2009, Halvorson Design, leading an all-star team of consultants, was again selected by the Commonwealth for the first comprehensive multi-modal analysis and design of facilities for cyclists and pedestrians along and across the entire reservation. This project is being carried out as part of the Accelerated Bridge Program (ABP) for MassDOT.
Included are more than 20 miles of multi-use paths and 11 vehicular bridges over the river. The study will result in a new vision for pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular travel within the basin and recommendations for improved connections with the surrounding urban neighborhoods.
